Protip: Compass code completion.

For all you guys out there using Compass and some sort of IDE with ‘indexing’ or ‘code intel’, this is a method to get Compass code completion working!

Start by getting your gem path: $ gem env

and look for the GEM-PATHS section. Mine looks like this:

In my case the path is /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8

Next, create a symbolic link in the sass (or wherever your scss is) directory of your project. GEM-PATH is the path you got from above and VERSION is the Compass version you have installed. A quick compass -v reveals the version.

And voilĂ ! Code completion for Compass. Tested and works in PhpStrom.

Windows users might try this: stackoverflow answer

update 20-07-2013: fixed the path, it should contain gems

Yes, it is so much nicer to work on a *nix system for web dev…. And add the benefit of application support and stability, makes OSX the greatest platform for a web developer.
